Meeting March 29th
Hey guys! Sorry about the late blog post, I have been really busy. Anyways... Last time we had elections!!! Our new Sectetray is... Spencer (me)! Our new Vice President is ... Charlee! And last but not least our new President is .... Emma!!! We talked about the Diabetes Walk last time amd decided not to do it because it cost alot of money. Instead we were going to donate $100 to them. Also Splash 4 Cash is a no go as well. But we are still going to do the peace out rally. But the good news is that we want to set up a booth for our school carnival. The carnival is on Friday April 15th. We had a few ideas of ballon darts or poster darts. For the ballon darts we would need some big cork boards and thought of charging people $1 for 3 darts. For the poster darts we need to get a lot of posters. If anyone has another other ideas please comment!! Last blog Courtney posted a thing about making paper cranes for Japan. Do Something if giving Japan $2 for every paper crane that is made to help with the diaster. At the end they plan on making a mural with the paper cranes and sending it to Japan. We want to help and set up a table at lunch to have people make cranes. If you could comment to say if you could help that would be great. We also need a lot of paper, so if everyone could bring in printer paper or origami paper that would be awesome! We also thought about having a banner for people to sign saying they have made paper crane. That's all we talked about this week. I think the balloons would be easier since we could just get a bunch of cheap balloons from the dollar tree and blow them up and tack them to a cork board. Where's the carnival held? And I think I have one or two large cork boards I can bring.
And I've already made 10 paper cranes.. Should I make some more? And I can help with the paper crane making table at lunch. Banner sounds good, we can just use some of the school's butcher paper! And I can also get paper, if needed.

Ok so good job Spence and for the balloons.... I saw on the sign up sheet that someone is doing darts but I don't know what they are doing with them... sooo it might still work but we should ask them. And for the cranes, I'm up to helping!
So will we be giving out prizes for the dart board/balloon idea?
And also, just curious, but where does the money come from to give to Japan for eack crane?
Read. Also, until the school year is over, I have drivers ed on tuesdays and thursdays at 3:20. So I can come for the beginings of meetings but have to leave really early. And the 1st and 3rd tuesdays of everymonth I have nahs.

so wait... first who is the new treasurer? that role is kinda important...
I'm kinda sad that every idea we have for an activity always gets canceled or barely no one shows up unless it's already planned by someone else :/
anyway I like the balloon idea as well I could get balloons as well as more paper for the cranes.
when is DS sending them the money? we could also have a paper crane area of the booth... just a thought.
So there's an organization that is partnering with Do Something that is willing to donate $2 for every paper crane made up to $200,00, I believe.
We didn't have a new treasurer up until recently, but Vlada will now take place as treasurer next year.
Officers, new and old, I feel like having regular officer meetings will help with the productivity of the club and the communication between everyone in general, so when are we willing to do this?
A few ideas for carnival activities: cake walk, brain teaser table, scavenger hunt (we'll provide lists and clues, they look around the carnival, and come back for a prize).
I agree with Alysia, it is a bit disappointing. I don't know if the reason we can't make a lot of these things happen is because we set our goals too high, or if it truly is scheduling conflicts. I don't know if it's because people aren't comfortable with other members of the club, making it more difficult to come out with their own ideas, but if that's the case, I have plenty of ideas for things that will help us bond and become a closer club.
Really, anyone with thoughts on this issue, please let us know. You don't have to do it here, but we really want to make this a safe environment for people to get their ideas out there for making a difference. Thanks for all of your work so far, and I can only hope it goes up from here.
I think the balloons are a good idea. And I want to help with the crane making table at lunch too! Also, I will start folding paper cranes like a mad woman

....whaaaat? We're not doing the splash for cash...? Dang.it. We need to stop saying we do things and then cancel them... and um, I like the ballon idea too :)
